Japanese characters display

Postby Phatkap » 30 Aug 2009, 17:44

Hi,

I've been searching for a software like sisimizi game catalog for quite a while. I installed a bunch of them and SGC is definitely the one that matches the best my needs.
My report concern the display of Japanese characters in the game list column. For some reason it works fine on the game information window, but looks funny in the game's list

Here's a screenshot to be more explicit :)

Yes, I'm using sisimizi to organize my eroge...

Not sure it is really a bug !

Text fields are using Delphi's internal components but the list is using an external component (ElTree Lite), i think that component simply do not support languages based on double octet character.

I can be wrong of course, just wait for author's post to be sure...

SGC in general does not support unicode, means it only works with characters from local Windows charset. On a Windows with japanese charset set as default it should be able to display japanese characters on the list and fields.

So this is indeed not a bug, it's just because SGC is based on older code that unfortunately does not support unicode. Though I'd like to migrate SGC to unicode, it would be quite a lot of work and for some Delphi components there are no updates available that support unicode (some components are no more available officially at all). This is why I cannot promise an unicode version for future. Maybe. Maybe not. ;)

PS: You could try Microsoft's free AppLocal Utility for XP (can be installed on Vista, too, but needs some tricks), which sets a specific application to the charset you need, but on a short test it unfortunately messed up SGC user interface somehow, though then using japanese characters worked on SGC.

Thanks to you guys for the explanations, and sorry that I posted that in the wrong section.

My winXP is already set up to japanese unicode, but I didn't think of using the applocal (actually I just tried and it doesn't work).
Thanks anyways and long life to sisimizi game catalog ;)
